FAQs
Do you offer different designs than what are listed on your website?
A: We are constantly in search of new and original designs so please check back frequently. If you have any suggestions on unique concepts or products, we would love to hear from you at Sales@Zincotta.com.
Will my board look identical to the ones on your website?
A: The great thing about Zincotta boards is that every board is unique! The exact color, grain and variabilities of the raw wood make for an exclusive product that will be similar to the boards on our site but never an exact replica.
How do I take care of my board?
A: Our cutting boards are made of the highest quality wood in North America. Zincotta boards will last a lifetime if proper care is taken. We recommend using a food grade mineral oil at least once a month. In addition, Butcher Block conditioning oil should be applied about 4 times per year. Wash with soapy water after use and towel dry. Never place these boards in a dishwasher or soak them in water.
Will knife marks show on the board?
A: Yes, and that's actually a good sign. The beauty of our real wood cutting boards is that they protect your knives. In addition, our wood boards do not dull your knives as quickly as Bamboo boards. Bamboo is not actually wood but a type of grass which does not hold up well over time compared to wood. As long as you make sure to oil your boards periodically with mineral oil, knife marks are part of the seasoning process.
What about plastic cutting boards?
A: Never. For multiple reasons including sustainability, durability, allure and sanitation (plastic board scars can trap and breed bacteria). Our boards are meant to be both used and displayed prominently in your kitchen. Zincotta boards excel in both preparation and presentation!
What is the advantage of hardwood cutting boards?
A: All Zincotta boards are made from hardwood. Hardwood is fine-grained and the capillary action of that grain pulls down fluid, trapping bacteria which are killed off as the board dries after cleaning. Soft woods have larger grains which allow the wood to split apart more easily forming grooves where bacteria can thrive.
Can I use a serrated knife on your boards?
A: Serrated knives are not recommended to be used on hardwood cutting boards. These knives can tear wood fibers and could cause the board to splinter.
Do you guarantee your cutting boards?
A: Our pursuit of quality comes with a guaranteed one year warranty. We will replace your cutting board within one year of purchase due to any manufacture defect. Please e-mail your date of purchase, address and the type of board you purchased to Sales@Zincotta.com. Please note that the following is not covered under this warranty:
